the story of
a six acre destination overlooking lake travis

Thomas Porter
owner
Jack Strong, Texas State Senator from Longview, built a successful hotel business by building road side hotels and motels along Texas. His dream was to build a unique hotel in a Villa style that allowed friends and family to come together and stay under one roof. He found the ideal location; six acres on a bluff overlooking a gorgeous expanse of Lake Travis and the Texas Hill Country with the best sunset view he had ever seen. With the site chosen and the design completed by famous Austin architect Sinclair Black, Vintage Villas Bed & Breakfast was born.
In 2000, Thomas Porter, the current owner was hired as the General Manager. Thomas’s hotel career started at the age of 18 at a Hilton Hotel while attending the University of Texas. His years of experience in luxury hotels, knowledge of food and beverage and a true desire to serve were the perfect recipe to bring the Vintage Villas concept to life. Thomas and his wife Vicky, also a hospitality professional and a graduate of the prestigious Shannon College of Hotel Management in Shannon Ireland, began to make the transformation from Bed & Breakfast to Vintage Villas Hotel & Events.
After seven years as General Manger, Thomas and Vicky bought their dream hotel. Thomas continues to work in the hotel daily and is still the Vintage Villas General Manager.
